Are You A Forward-Thinking Leader? Take This Simple Test.
Being optimistic doesn’t mean failing to face up to tough times, uncertainty, and shifting challenges. Indeed, the more you and I understand our current reality, the more prepared we can be to act in ways that allow us to endure and even prosper in adversity.
Psychologist Martin Seligman has found a dramatic difference between people who react to roadblocks with a sense of futility, and those who react with a steady determination to master their destiny. The one quality that sets them apart: optimism– that is the one simple test if you are a forward-thinking leader.
In order to reach the top of a distant goal of inspiring results, you need to be optimistic, zestful, and energetic.
The truth is that focusing on the future sets leaders apart.
• Create a preferred picture of the future that includes new virtual strategies.
• Be enthused about new markets and ways to reach your customers.
• Remember, optimism is contagious and your team will feed off of your energy for the future.
In my Executive Coaching and trusted advisor programs, I like to remind our leaders: “nothing can be done by a pessimist”.
You must remain optimistic and hopeful about what is yet to come.
Write this on a 3×5 card:
A positive difference can only be made by a positive leader.
Here’s to your optimism!
